Tekla Evelina Severin brings new perspective to Essis Collection’s artisan glass
Essis by Lasilinkki launched their newest collaboration on 3rd of October with Tekla Evelina Severin at an event at the residence of the Finnish Ambassador in Stockholm. For Essis, this collaboration with renowned Swedish designer and interior architect is a stepping stone for growing brand awareness. Tekla Evelina Severin has designed a new PLAY collection for Essis, which includes two colorful and fun artisan glass tables: Jam and Honey. The artisan glass tables highlight the enchanting properties of patterned glass in dynamic interaction with transparency, diffusion, light, and shadow
”I have long admired Tekla’s bold and colorful designs. As our business began to expand internationally, I sought someone who could embody the same vibrant spirit and act as an ambassador for our artisan glasses in Sweden. This collaboration has been rewarding, thanks to the shared curiosity in creating new designs. I believe the Play collection will resonate with both new and seasoned glass enthusiasts, and I am thrilled with the final result.”, Essi Sundman, the creative director and entrepreneur rejoices.

New collaborations provokes new perspectives and possibilities for Essis by Lasilinkki
In the PLAY collection’s artisan glass tables, Tekla Severin’s color compositions and graphically playful and vibrant, often monochromatic, expressions are clearly present.
”As in all my work, I like to play with the perspective, so to challenge the intersection between the two dimensional and three-dimensional perception. In this collaboration I had the pleasure doing that very concretely in different layers, with the fused glass pattern in relief meeting the three-dimensional base. I also had the opportunity to work with the magical features of glass adding to that experience, to work with transparency and diffusion as well as light and shadow play. Also to work with the contrast of light and heavy, warm, and cold was extremely exciting.
My other main ground in all my work is to explore how color always is relative, never absolute , always changing , in relation to each other. But also, here in this project how you actually move in front of the Jam glass table with the columns and experience how they actually ”they are changing color!” , Tekla Evelina Severin opens up about the design process.

”Our artisan glass revolution has just started, while continuing work in Sweden we are already setting our sights to Denmark and Norway. Our artisan glass solutions and designs are unique in the Nordics. That is why we believe we can offer something new and exceptional to interior architects and designers. This collaboration with Tekla is the first but I’m sure there will be more in the future. After this launch we will bring more products from our own in house designers to Essis Collection and focus on finding interior design projects in hospitality industry and office spaces.” sums up Essis Export Manager Tiia Tanskanen.
